Adult Autism & ADHD Assessment in North Carolina
Neurodivergent-Affirming Autism Assessment and Therapy for Adults
Accepting New Clients In-Person and Virtually in Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius, and surrounding areas anywhere in North Carolina.
Have you been wondering if you may be autistic, have ADHD, or AuDHD?
Getting an accurate diagnosis - and having it done in a way that feels safe and affirming - can feel almost impossible. So many neurodivergent women have been overlooked or misdiagnosed because they’ve learned to mask so well or because their support needs aren’t obvious from the outside.
We offer streamlined Autism and ADHD testing that focuses on adult late-identified and high-masking autism and ADHD.
We offer neuro-affirming assessments which means that neurodivergence is seen as a natural variation in the wiring of human brains, and not pathologized or seen as a problem or disorder.
Our approach centers on adults who have been overlooked due to masking, PDA profiles, gender, race, or misdiagnosed in the past- and we specialize on providing assessments for individuals who may have been overlooked in their childhood or adolescence.
There are plenty of clinicians who specialize in assessing and diagnosing autism, ADHD or AuDHD in children- but you’re an adult who can report on your internal experience to an assessor (even if it doesn’t make sense to you- it does to us!). You don’t need full neuropsychological testing (unless you’re filing for disability, etc). Our assessment services fit your needs perfectly- the need to confirm, the need to validate, and the need to understand what skills or mindset work is right for you.
We get plenty of people who have had a psychiatrist diagnose them for years with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, the list goes on… It’s not that you can’t have the diagnoses along with autism, ADHD, or AuDHD, it’s the fact that your essential neurotype (the neurodevelopmental nature of autism, ADHD, or AuDHD) makes it the foundation that these other diagnoses live on. For many people, they realize that their symptoms are a manifestation of their neurotype, not a separate diagnosis altogether. The other interesting thing is that psychiatrists essentially don’t medicate “autism” - that’s why you may find another diagnosis such as bipolar much more likely in your chart at your psychiatrist’s office.
We often do assessments for “non-stereotypical” presentations of autism, ADHD, and AuDHD- many of our clients are moms, professionals, and high-achieving individuals who have always had a feeling that something was just “not quite right.” Our clients often come to us after years of therapy and personal growth with the realization that they’ve been misdiagnosed for some time. Some of our clients are even fellow therapists, doctors, and health care workers. We provide assessments in person in Mooresville, NC and online anywhere in the state of North Carolina.

Assessment Provider:
Amy Lowery, LMFT
I help women who have spent years performing, pleasing, and putting everyone else first reconnect with their authentic selves.
Together, we gently unmask the patterns that kept you safe but left you exhausted- things like perfectionism, people-pleasing, and trauma-driven self-doubt.
My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, collaborative, and grounded in EMDR and somatic practices, so you can heal at a pace that feels respectful to your nervous system.
Whether you’re exploring late-diagnosed autism, ADHD, or trauma, I provide a supportive space to process your story, build trust in yourself, and live with more ease.
Our approach
When we do an assessment, we look at more than scores on a page. We combine structured tools and thoughtful conversations. Every step is grounded in a neurodivergent-affirming, inclusive, and non-pathologizing approach. This isn’t about reducing you to a diagnosis - it’s about giving language to your lived experience, making sense of patterns that may have felt invisible, and helping you feel more rooted and confident in the way your mind works.
Please Note:
Does this assessment include a full psychological evaluation?
No. Our assessment services do not include a full psychometric battery or a comprehensive psychological report. They are designed to provide clarity, support, and a diagnostic summary when appropriate.
Will this documentation be accepted everywhere?
Acceptance of an Autism or ADHD diagnosis varies. Some schools, agencies, or workplaces require that evaluations be completed or supervised by a licensed psychologist or physician. Others accept assessments completed by master’s-level clinicians.
What is my responsibility as the client?
It is your responsibility to confirm in advance what type of documentation is required for your specific situation (e.g., school accommodations, workplace requests, disability benefits). This includes verifying:
Whether a diagnosis from a master’s-level clinician will be accepted (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT)
Whether a diagnostic letter is sufficient, or if a full psychological report is required
What should I do if I need my documentation accepted for services?
If you are pursuing this assessment for formal documentation or access to services, please share any required criteria with your assessor before your evaluation. While we provide accurate and affirming assessments, we cannot guarantee that documentation from this service will meet all third-party requirements.
